Too helpful

I am on a mission to reduce my Mac’s efforts to be helpful. Why some programmer would assume I wanted to relaunch apps I was using when I shut down or review the documents I was examining when I quit is beyond me. I mostly quit when I am done and have little desire to return to what I assumed was finished.

Anyway, I am attempting to learn how to turn off this “reactivation feature”. Sometimes you just miss opportunities to limit this function. For example, do you know that when you “shut down”, you are given the opportunity to prevent reactivation (see check box in following image). I have viewed this image hundreds of times and never read the fine print.
