Note to self (and anyone else who keeps resources in the cloud) – there is a very useful LifeHacker post offering techniques to back up different collections you have stored in the cloud. I am presently downloading my Flickr collection just to see if I can. Flickrtouchr is a python script – use the terminal to create a folder (locate in the Home directory on your mac), place the python script in the home directory, call script from terminal. I will delete the folder, but I will likely repeat from a computer I want to use to keep these images.

Just had this discussion with our niece last weekend (HS senior next year). She thought Twitter was a possibility because everything else she uses was blocked at school.

Advice for college students. Some good – you can find free books in the library. Some questionnable but appealing to the audience – getting in under 21.

HackCollege is educating the students of the world about effective, open source software, putting techno-political arguments in everyday language, and creating a cult of “Students 2.0.”

The ReadWriteWeb reports that the proportion of Flickr images offered with a CC license is decreasing. The article appears to argue that Flickr makes it too difficult to apply CC permissions and also to locate CC images.

I kind of agree – I admit most of my images are not offered as CC and I mostly don’t make the effort to go in a mark them as such.
