According to <a href=\"http:\/\/mobile.edweek.org\/c.jsp?cid=25920011&amp;item=http:\/\/api.edweek.org\/v1\/blog\/63\/?uuid=64965\">Education Week<\/a>, the FCC has rescinded a report describing the success of the e-rate program.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The report will have &#8220;no legal or other effect or meaning going forward,&#8221; according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/transition.fcc.gov\/Daily_Releases\/Daily_Business\/2017\/db0203\/DA-17-129A1.pdf\">commission&#8217;s order.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>An FCC spokesman said the report &#8220;does not reflect the official views of the agency.&#8221; A copy remains available on the agency&#8217;s website.<\/p>\n<p>Titled &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.edweek.org\/edweek\/DigitalEducation\/FCC_Jan27ErateReport_DOC-343099A1.pdf\">E-Rate Modernization: Progress and the Road Ahead<\/a>,&#8221; the document describes the impact of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.edweek.org\/ew\/section\/multimedia\/the-e-rate-overhaul-in-4-easy-charts.html\">FCC&#8217;s 2014 effort to overhaul the E-rate program<\/a>, which helps subsidize the cost of telecommunications services for public schools and libraries. In addition to raising the program&#8217;s annual spending cap from $2.4 to $3.9 billion, Wheeler and the commission&#8217;s Democratic majority approved regulations prioritizing broadband and Wi-Fi, increasing competition in the school-broadband market, and making a wide range of data related to the program publicly available.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I can&#8217;t say I have read the full-report, but the report concerns goals and accomplishments.<\/p>\n<p>I know Senator Franken (D &#8211; Minnesota) has been big on connectivity issues.
