Some folks always knew it was there, but those of us who are white, privileged, and comfortable financially could pretend. Trump did not change his focus on division and selfishness and making these values evident over time did little to diminish his level of support. Biden offered a normal, if bland, but principled alternative and it is clear American values remain what they were only now more visible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I agree with Tom Friedman\u2019s assessment.
